🏠 Auburn University — Parent Guide

Helping parents understand dorm options, safety, accessibility, and what to expect at Auburn University.

💡 Tips for parents reviewing dorm options:

🏠 How housing selection works at Auburn University

First-year residency requirement.Auburn requires entering first-year students to live in university housing. Many sophomores remain on campus or move into Greek chapter houses.

The Hill.Traditional first-year cluster (Boyd, Broun, Dowdell, Knapp, Lupton, Sasnett, Teague). Mostly corridor-style with shared bathrooms.

Suite-style of six halls (Aubie, Eagle, Plainsman, Spirit, Tiger, War Eagle), opened 2008.

Newer (2014) suite-style residence — most-sought-after first-year option.

South Donahue.Apartment-style upper-class residence on the south end of campus.

Greek life.Auburn has one of the largest systems in America. All 17 Panhellenic sororities and most IFC fraternities maintain chapter houses on Sorority Row and Greek Row.
