Connecticut College operates a distinctive house system — students live in one of 23 residence houses rather than traditional dormitories. Each house fosters a tight-knit community with its own character.
First-Year Housing: Hamilton House and Morrisson House are exclusively designated for first-year students. Both are part of the North Complex ("the Plex"), connected to Harris Refectory. First-year rooms are mostly configured as 2-room triples (one single bed and one set of bunk beds). Both Plex houses offer all-female floor options.
Upperclass Housing: Sophomores, juniors, and seniors participate in the room selection process to choose their house for the following year. Most houses are co-ed; some houses offer single-sex floor alternatives.
The Village: College-owned apartments across Mohegan Avenue (Route 32) provide upperclass students a more independent apartment-style living experience with full kitchens. The Manwaring Apartments are located in downtown New London.
Special Communities: Lambdin House offers Quiet Housing. Knowlton House hosts the International Language Residence. Jane Addams House includes an on-site dining hall.
Honor Code: All residential students are expected to uphold the Connecticut College Honor Code, which governs academic integrity and community standards.
