Helping parents understand dorm options, safety, accessibility, and what to expect at Mount Holyoke College.
Mount Holyoke is a fully residential college with eighteen residence halls. New students complete a two-part housing application (via the Residence portal) by June 23; Part 1 includes a compatibility questionnaire used to match roommates, and the college recommends letting staff make matches rather than self-selecting. Room assignments are emailed in late July.
Returning students participate in a spring housing lottery (March–April) organized by housing type and class year: seniors have priority access to singles, suites, and apartments; juniors and sophomores follow. Students must be cleared by the Registrar, Financial Services, Health, and Counseling offices by a late-March deadline to participate. A separate off-campus housing release process is available for juniors and seniors, with applications due in late February.
