💡 Tips for parents reviewing dorm options:

🏠 How housing selection works at St. John's University

St. John's University offers on-campus housing at its Queens campus for first-year and returning students. Freshmen are strongly encouraged to live on campus to take advantage of the residential experience and the supportive living-learning environment.

Application Process: Students apply for housing through the Residential Life portal. New students typically receive housing information after confirming enrollment. Assignments are made based on class year, preferences, and availability.

Freshman Housing: Incoming freshmen are typically placed in DaSilva Hall or Founders Hall, which offer corridor-style rooms with communal bathrooms. These halls emphasize community programming and academic support.

Upperclass Housing: Hollis Hall, Henley Hall, Carey Hall, and Cassidy Hall are available to sophomores and above. New Hall and Cassidy Hall are reserved primarily for upperclass students.

Manhattan Campus: Limited apartment-style housing is available at the Manhattan campus near the Financial District for students interested in urban living. This housing is open to students of all class years.

Meal Plans: Residential students on the Queens campus are required to purchase a meal plan. The main dining facility is Montgoris Dining Hall, with additional options available across campus.
