Helping parents understand dorm options, safety, accessibility, and what to expect at SUNY New Paltz.

💡 Tips for parents reviewing dorm options:

🏠 How housing selection works at SUNY New Paltz

Two-year residency requirement.First- and second-year New Paltz students are required to live in university housing.

First-year placement.First-years live in traditional corridor halls (Bouton, Capen, Crispell, DuBois, Esopus, Lefevre, Scudder) on the southern side of campus. Roommate matching is done via summer survey.

Upper-class options.Upper-class students choose suite-style halls (Bevier, Ridgeview) or remain in their first-year hall. Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) include themed-housing options.

Greek life.New Paltz has a small Greek system with off-campus chapter houses; no on-campus housing.
