🏠 How housing selection works at Union College

Union College requires all first- and second-year students to live on campus. Upperclass students (juniors and seniors) may apply for on-campus housing in theme houses, suite-style halls, or other residential options.

First-Year Housing: Incoming freshmen are assigned to one of the dedicated first-year residence halls — Davidson, Golub, or Richmond — based on preferences submitted during the summer. These halls are designed to build community among new students and are staffed by Resident Advisors and live-in professional staff.

Theme Houses (The Row): Upperclass students can apply to one of Union's distinctive theme houses arranged along the Row. Each house has a unique focus — from language and culture to social justice and the arts — and requires a separate application. Theme house placements are made in the spring for the following academic year.

Trimester Calendar: Union operates on a trimester calendar with three 10-week terms. Housing assignments cover the full academic year across all three terms.

Meal Plans: All residential students are required to purchase a meal plan. West Dining Hall is the primary all-you-care-to-eat facility. Additional dining options include the Rathskeller, Ozone, and the Campus Market.
