🏠 How housing selection works at University of Connecticut

The University of Connecticut requires all first-year students to live on campus at Storrs and guarantees housing to all incoming freshmen. UConn's is organized around six distinct , each with its own dining facilities, programming staff, and community identity.

First-Year Housing (Required):All incoming freshmen are required to live on campus for their first year. Freshmen apply for housing in the spring and rank preferences by . The six main areas are: Northwest, Hilltop, Shippee/Buckley, Charter Oak/Garrigus Suites (suite-style, Honors area), McMahon Hall (large high-rise of campus), and North/South/East/West Campus. Honors Living Community and LLCs:UConn operates a Honors Living Community integrated into Charter Oak Apartments and adjacent buildings, with dedicated programming, peer mentoring, and faculty connections for Honors Program students. UConn also offers more than 20 Living Learning Communities across its , including the Engineering LLC, Business LLC, STEM LLC, and identity-based communities. LLC applications are part of the housing application process.
