🏠 How housing selection works at University of Houston

The University of Houston does not require students to live on campus, but offers guaranteed housing to incoming freshmen who apply by the priority deadline. UH's on campus in southwest Houston serves approximately 5,000 students across a mix of traditional residence halls and newer apartment-style communities.

First-Year Housing:Freshmen apply for housing in the spring before enrollment, selecting preferences by room type. The main freshman residence halls include I and II, the Community, and Moody Towers. Students indicate preferences for room type (double, single, suite-style) and lifestyle options.

Community:UH's students have access to a dedicated , with specialized academic programming, faculty connections, and priority placement for honors-enrolled students. Application requires enrollment.

Living Learning Communities:UH offers several LLCs embedded system, including the STEM LLC, the Engineering LLC, the Business LLC, and identity-based communities. LLC applications are submitted alongside the housing application.

Apartment-Style and Upperclass Housing:UH's Cambridge Oaks and Stadium Parking Garage-adjacent apartment complexes students in a more independent living environment. Many UH sophomores, juniors, and seniors choose to live off campus in the affordable Houston rental market surrounding the campus in the Midtown, Montrose, and East End neighborhoods.
