🏠 How housing selection works at University of Maryland

The University of Maryland does not require students to live on campus for all four years, but requires freshmen to live on campus for their first year. Incoming first-year students must apply for housing and are guaranteed a space. UMD's is organized into several distinct neighborhoods across campus.

First-Year Housing (Required):All incoming freshmen are required to live on campus. Freshmen apply for housing in the spring, ranking preferences by . Many junior and senior students choose to live off campus in College Park and the surrounding Prince George's County communities.
