The University of Maryland does not require students to live on campus for all four years, but requires freshmen to live on campus for their first year. Upperclass Housing:Returning students apply for on-campus housing through a continuing resident process. Many junior and senior students choose to live off campus in College Park and the surrounding Prince George's County communities. The university provides resources for off-campus housing through its Off-Campus Housing Services office.
