🏠 How housing selection works at Williams College

uses a centrally managed housing process that differs by class year.

First-Year Students:All incoming first-years are assigned to one of two designated first-year areas — the or. Assignments are made by the Dean's Office based on questionnaire responses; students do not self-select.

Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Housing:Returning students participate in an annual housing lottery. Students form "draw groups" (1–6 people) and are assigned a lottery number. Groups select rooms in lottery order. Popular options include:

• Mission Park— apartment-style housing near the science complex; very popular for upperclass students
• Greylock Quad— suite-style halls; often preferred for their newer construction and
• Dodd Circle— a cluster of smaller, quiet houses close to the campus
• Central campus houses— a mix of corridor and house-style buildings scattered across the main campus

Williams is a — the vast majority of students live on campus all four years. Off-campus housing is rarely approved and requires a formal petition. All housing is on-campus and in Williamstown, MA.
