About Alice Lloyd College

Alice Lloyd College is a private work college in Pippa Passes, located in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. Founded in 1923 (originally as Caney Junior College) and now a four-year institution, it operates a mandatory Student Work Program in which all full-time students work on campus to offset costs, and it guarantees tuition-free enrollment to students from its central Appalachian service area. About 570 students attend, and the college requires full-time students to live in campus housing.
