About Rand Hall

Rand Hall, built in 1905 as a women's dormitory and named for Bates mathematics professor John Holmes Rand, is a mid-sized corridor-style residence on Alumni Walk near the Puddle and Commons. Known for high ceilings, large rooms (especially on lower floors), and a notable central staircase, Rand houses a mix of first-year and upper-division students and includes a large central lounge and study rooms on most floors.
