Baxter House is one of Bowdoin College's College Houses, housing approximately 20–30 students in an intimate residential setting with a live-in Head of House — a faculty or senior staff member who hosts weekly dinners and informal gatherings that bring the house community together. Like all Bowdoin College Houses, Baxter has a shared kitchen where residents can prepare meals and a semi-private bathroom setup. No central AC, consistent with Bowdoin's Maine campus where the climate requires heating far more than cooling. The College House system is central to Bowdoin's residential identity — smaller than most residential halls, with built-in community programming and a faculty presence that distinguishes it from standard dormitory living. Baxter is part of the residential draw system available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
