Claflin University is a private, historically Black liberal arts university founded in 1869 in Orangeburg, South Carolina — the oldest HBCU in the state. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Claflin offers bachelor's and master's degrees across four schools: Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, and Education. The 40-acre urban campus is home to approximately 1,830 students. Claflin competes in NCAA Division II athletics as the Panthers in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
