Fort Valley State University is a public historically Black university (HBCU) and member of the University System of Georgia, founded in 1895 in Fort Valley in Peach County, the heart of Georgia's peach-growing region. Serving approximately 3,000 students, FVSU is the only 1890 land-grant institution in Georgia and is known for its strong programs in agriculture, family and consumer sciences, technology, education, and nursing.
