About Hunter College

Hunter College is a public senior college of CUNY on Manhattan's Upper East Side, founded in 1870 as the Female Normal and High School (one of the first U.S. institutions for the higher education of women). Hunter went co-educational in 1964 and today enrolls about 17,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students. The main campus on East 68th Street between Park and Lexington occupies four interconnected high-rise buildings; additional Hunter facilities include the Brookdale Health Sciences campus on East 25th Street and the Silberman School of Social Work in East Harlem.
