Hunter College is a public senior college of CUNY on Manhattan's Upper East Side, founded in 1870 as the Female Normal and High School (one of the first U.S. institutions for the higher education of women). Hunter went co-educational in 1964 and today enrolls about 17,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students.
