Trembley Park is Lehigh's largest apartment complex — a sprawling seven-building undergraduate community named in memory of Francis J. Trembley, a Lehigh professor and pioneering ecologist. Built in 1975, the complex predates many other residential facilities but has been updated over the years. Students live in apartment-style units, many of which feature lofted sleeping areas — a distinctive and popular feature. The complex has a distinctly residential feel, almost like a small apartment neighborhood on the edge of campus. It is exclusively for upperclass students and tends to attract juniors and seniors who want more independence. While Trembley is a longer walk to main campus, the trade-off is privacy, independence, and significantly more living space than traditional dorm rooms. Many students describe it as "basically living off-campus without the lease risk." The seven-building layout creates its own community within the community.
