Brodhead House, built in 1979, was Lehigh's first high-rise residential facility and remains one of the most recognizable buildings on campus. The six-story building places a dining facility and lobby on the entrance level, with four-person suites on each of the five upper floors. Each suite consists of two double bedrooms sharing a central bathroom — a step up from the communal bathroom situation in the traditional corridor-style halls. Brodhead is popular with upperclass students who appreciate the convenience of having an on-site dining hall while still enjoying suite-style living. The building's height means upper floors have outstanding views of the surrounding Bethlehem Valley and the South Mountain ridgeline. Students on higher floors particularly appreciate the vantage point in fall when the foliage turns. The central lobby and dining hall make Brodhead a social hub.
