Mansfield University of Pennsylvania is a regional campus of Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, located in the rural Tioga County highlands of north-central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1857 as one of the state's earliest normal schools, Mansfield is known for its music education program — a tradition stretching back to the late 19th century when it was one of Pennsylvania's leading teacher-training institutions. The small-town setting along Tioga River provides a close-knit community atmosphere. The Mounties compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
