The Heights is Montclair State's signature $211-million residential complex opened in Fall 2011, comprising 16 interconnected named halls (Dinallo side: Walt Whitman, William Gordon, Nellie Katherine Morrow Parker, Clara Barton, and others; Machuga side: John Basilone, Sam Mills, Albert Einstein, Althea Gibson, and others) totaling nearly 2,000 beds. Students live in double rooms or suites of two singles, each configuration with a private shared bathroom. The complex features Sam's Place dining hall and Bistro 62 (24,216 sq ft dining), Amazon lockers, study rooms, and the Honors Living Community area. Located at the center of campus adjacent to the Student Recreation Center.
