Oakland University is a public research university founded in 1957 on the former Meadow Brook estate in Rochester Hills, north of Detroit. Serving approximately 18,000 students, Oakland is known for its strong programs in engineering and computer science, business, health sciences, and education. The campus is distinctive for its parklike estate grounds — including Meadow Brook Hall, a historic mansion — set within the suburban Detroit region. The Golden Grizzlies compete in the Horizon League.
