Hebrew Heritage House is housed in Johnson House, a three-story mansion that is one of the oldest residence halls on campus. Founded in 1969 as a winter term project by students under the name Hebrew House, it has been home to roughly 30–35 students who choose to live in this close-knit community centered on Jewish cultural and religious life. The building includes a fully equipped kitchen, study lounges, and the Joseph Elias Memorial Library with materials related to Jewish heritage. Events and programming are coordinated with Oberlin's Jewish Studies Department and Hillel.
