About Demarest Hall

Demarest Hall is the most distinctive of Rutgers's River Dorms — a co-ed corridor hall with all-gender bathrooms that has served as the university's LGBTQ+ affirming residential community since the 1970s. Named for William Henry Steele Demarest, a former Rutgers president. Traditional double rooms in a corridor layout. Demarest has a strong creative and activist culture and is one of the most sought-after River Dorms for LGBTQ+ students and allies.
