About Unit 3 — Priestley Hall

Priestley Hall is one of the four high-rise towers that make up UC Berkeley's Unit 3 residence hall complex on Channing Way. Built in 1964, the tower shares the Unit 3 central courtyard with Ida Sproul, Norton, and Spens-Black Halls. Traditional corridor-style double rooms with communal floor bathrooms, no air conditioning. Priestley is named for Joseph Priestley, the chemist who discovered oxygen. Like the other Unit 3 towers, Priestley is primarily a first-year residence, convenient to south campus academic buildings, libraries, and Telegraph Avenue.
