[Hyde Park — Inside Renée Granville-Grossman Residential Commons (East wing)] Cathey House is one of UChicago's 48 named houses — a 4-year residential community of about 70 students with its own faculty Resident Heads, lounge, dining table at house dinners, and traditions. Cathey Dining Commons takes its name from this house's donor. UChicago students are assigned to a house for their entire 4-year undergraduate career; house affiliation persists in the alumni network.
