Melville Hall is one of the 16 residence halls in UMass Amherst's Southwest residential area. Southwest is the largest of the residential areas at UMass with high-rise and low-rise corridor-style halls; mostly first-year residents. Features include shared kitchens, lounges, and easy access to the Southwest dining commons (Hampshire). All Southwest halls have communal all-gender bathrooms.
