The University of Portland, founded in 1901 by the Congregation of Holy Cross, is a private Catholic university on a bluff overlooking the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. With about 4,000 students, UP is known for its nursing, engineering, business, and education programs and is regarded as one of the premier Catholic universities on the West Coast.
