Cooper Hall (originally named Beau Hall) is a U-shaped upperclass suite-style residence hall with two separate wings arranged around a central courtyard. Its distinctive U-shape differentiates it from the rectangular footprints of neighboring Alexander and Marshall halls, creating more varied common spaces and natural light on both wings. Like Alexander Hall, Cooper uses a jack-and-jill bathroom configuration shared between adjacent rooms. The building has historically housed women. The split-wing design means residents in each wing develop their own tightly-knit floor community while remaining part of the larger Cooper Hall social scene.
