Horn Hall, opened in 2016, was the first new residence hall built at Williams College in approximately 40 years and was designed to Passive House standards — one of the most rigorous energy efficiency certifications in the world. The building uses dramatically less energy than typical dormitories through superinsulation, triple-pane windows, and a heat recovery ventilation system. Horn is a modern corridor-style dorm with communal bathrooms. Its construction marked a significant statement by the college about sustainability. No air conditioning (consistent with Passive House design). Located on the west side of central campus.
