John Bertram Hall ("JB") is a suite-style upper-division residence situated near Bates's athletic fields and Garcelon Field. The hall features a full shared kitchen and a large common room for socializing, making it popular with students who want apartment-adjacent living without leaving campus. Named for Captain John Bertram of Salem, Massachusetts, whose daughter Clara Bertram Kimball funded its conversion from a science hall to a dormitory.
