About Caswell Hall

Built in 1903 and named after former Brown President Alexis Caswell (Class of 1822), Caswell Hall is an upper-division corridor-style residence on the Main Campus. It holds the distinction of being one of the first Brown dorms to come furnished — in the early 1900s, students famously had to bring or rent their own furniture. Communal bathrooms on each floor. Standard Brown furnishings provided today. The building's Victorian-era architecture and location near the center of campus make it a distinctive place to live.
