Appleby Hall is one of Claremont McKenna's North Quad residence halls, housing approximately 75–85 students in suite-style configurations. Like the other North Quad buildings (Boswell, Green, Wohlford), Appleby was built in an era before room-level air conditioning was standard in Southern California college housing — residents rely on cross-ventilation through operable windows to manage Claremont's warm climate. The suite-style layout connects two to four single bedrooms around a shared bathroom, creating small, tight-knit living clusters within a larger residential community. In-building laundry, common lounges, and close proximity to the Athenaeum speakers series and the Collins Dining Hall make Appleby a strong choice in the room draw. As part of the 5 Claremont Colleges system, all CMC students have access to courses, dining, libraries, and social spaces at adjacent Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Scripps, and Pitzer.
