The Tank is one of the most distinctive and beloved cooperative houses at Oberlin, operated by the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association (OSCA). Located in a striking historic building featuring a prominent circular tower ("tank"), it houses approximately 40–45 students who share all cooking, cleaning, and administrative responsibilities. Like all OSCA co-ops, the Tank operates on a labor model — members work a few hours per week to keep the house running, significantly reducing their housing and dining costs compared to traditional residence halls. The Tank has a reputation for being an especially tight-knit, socially active community with strong traditions and a welcoming atmosphere for new OSCA members. Meals are cooked from scratch by residents.
