About Lauterbur Hall

Lauterbur Hall is part of the Nobel Halls complex — a LEED Gold certified modern building opened in 2010, named for Nobel Prize winner Paul Lauterbur, who invented MRI and was a Stony Brook faculty member. Lauterbur Hall is administratively part of Kelly Community while its twin, Yang Hall, belongs to Roosevelt Community. The complex houses 604 students in 104 six-person suites (three double bedrooms + living room + bathroom). Unlike older Kelly buildings, Nobel Halls have air conditioning and a contemporary design with bold-colored aluminum cladding. A bus stop is located directly in front of the building.
