Weatherhead Hall is a suite-style residence hall for returning Tulane students, named in honor of Albert J. Weatherhead III and Celia Weatherhead. Opened in August 2011 and designed by Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Co. in collaboration with John C. Williams Architects, Weatherhead received the 2012 AIA New Orleans Merit Award and was recognized as Best Architecture and Design Innovator in its inaugural year — a testament to its thoughtful integration of residential life, sustainability, and architectural quality in the New Orleans context. The building houses students in single and double rooms in suite configurations with semi-private bathrooms shared among suitemates. A Faculty in Residence program brings a Tulane faculty member into the community, enriching the intellectual environment beyond the classroom. Air conditioning is individually controlled — residents set their own room temperature, a convenience unique among Tulane's older halls. Standard rooms measure approximately 18 feet 2 inches by 11 feet 5 inches with mixed carpet and LVT flooring and include a Microfridge.
