Washington Tower is the tallest of the four 22-story high-rise residence halls in the iconic Southwest Residential Area of UMass Amherst, and one of the tallest residential buildings in New England. Named in honor of George Washington, the tower provides corridor-style accommodations with communal bathroom facilities on each floor and breathtaking views of the Pioneer Valley and the Holyoke Range. Washington Tower is home to approximately 550 students and is directly connected to the Southwest dining complex via enclosed walkways, making it one of the most convenient residential locations on campus. The Southwest towers are famous for their strong hall community culture, annual intramural sports rivalries, and proximity to the Southwest dining complex — one of the largest dining halls in the region.
