The University of Vermont is the flagship public research university of Vermont, founded in 1791 and one of the oldest universities in the United States. Located in Burlington on a hillside overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains, UVM is known for its programs in medicine, environmental studies, agriculture, and the liberal arts.
