About Cushing House

Cushing House is a mid-size corridor-style residence housing approximately 100–120 students across multiple floors, with communal all-gender bathrooms on each level. Like most of Vassar's historic corridor halls, Cushing has no central AC — the Poughkeepsie climate is temperate for most of the academic year, and portable window units are permitted for the warmer weeks. The house system at Vassar places a residential advisor (RA) on each floor, and Cushing residents participate in the broader house programming and community events that distinguish the Vassar residential model. The building is popular in the house draw for its reasonable size and reliable social environment.
