Lathrop House is a corridor-style residence home to approximately 100–120 students, with communal all-gender bathrooms serving each floor. One of the quieter residential buildings in Vassar's house system, Lathrop has a reputation for a somewhat more subdued social atmosphere than the larger halls, making it a popular choice in the draw for students who want community without constant noise. The building has no central AC and follows the standard historic corridor layout: long hallways of singles and doubles, lounge spaces on each floor, and a ground-level common area. RAs on each floor support programming and mediate community concerns within the broader Vassar residential model.
