About Alfond Main Street Commons

Alfond Main Street Commons is Colby's bold experiment in off-campus urban living — a 200-resident apartment complex in downtown Waterville, Maine, opened in 2018 as part of Colby's major investment in revitalizing the Waterville downtown. Apartments have 4 or 6 single bedrooms, full kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, a furnished living room, and access to a fitness center, yoga studio, two-story lounges, and a reading room. Living at Alfond is a fundamentally different experience from the Mayflower Hill campus — students walk out the door into downtown Waterville's restaurants, shops, and cultural spaces. The building is LEED-certified and houses a mix of students, faculty, and staff. A shuttle connects Alfond to the main campus. Popular with juniors and seniors who want genuine urban apartment independence.
