David Kemp Hall opened in Fall 2009 as a gift from trustee Giles Kemp ('72) in honor of his father. The 29,000-square-foot, three-story building sits beside Alice Paul Hall near the SEPTA station and houses approximately 75 students from all class years. Rooms are generally spacious with tile floors; each floor has two wings — one closer to Sharples Dining with more doubles and triples, and one along Chester Road with primarily singles. Bathrooms are shared between rooms on each wing, making it one of the few Swarthmore halls described as semi-private rather than fully communal. David Kemp shares a courtyard and a reputation for strong community building with its sister hall next door.
