About Ferry House

Ferry House is a small, student-run cooperative residence and one of Vassar's most distinctive living options, accommodating approximately 30–40 students. Known as a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ students and allies, Ferry House has a strongly community- oriented culture built around shared governance, cooperative programming, and an intentionally inclusive social environment. Semi-private bathrooms are shared between adjacent rooms, and a shared kitchen supports the communal meals and informal gatherings that are central to Ferry's culture. The house operates with a higher degree of resident self-governance than Vassar's larger halls. Ferry House is consistently one of the most sought-after options in the house draw among students who prioritize community over amenities.
