About Brown College

Brown College is one of Rice's original six residential colleges, founded in 1957 and named for Albert Sidney Brown, a Rice trustee. Brown has a reputation for being one of Rice's most academically oriented colleges and is known for its community of students interested in science and engineering. Traditional corridor-style rooms with communal bathrooms, all air-conditioned. Brown is located on the north side of the Rice quadrangle and is one of the closest colleges to the main science buildings.
