About Baker College

Baker College is one of Rice's original residential colleges, founded in 1957 and named for James Addison Baker, the father of former Secretary of State James Baker. Baker has a reputation as one of Rice's most academically minded and laid-back colleges, known for its intellectual community and welcoming atmosphere. Traditional corridor-style rooms with communal bathrooms, with air conditioning. Baker is located on the north side of the Rice quadrangle.
