Wiess College (pronounced "Wee-iss") is one of Rice's original residential colleges, founded in 1957 and named for Harry C. Wiess, a founding trustee. Wiess has a strong reputation for its close-knit community and quirky traditions. Traditional corridor-style rooms with communal bathrooms, all air-conditioned. Wiess is one of Rice's smaller colleges and is known for a particularly tight community bond among its members. Located on the southwest side of the Rice quadrangle.
