Old West Residence Hall is one of UNC's most historic buildings, the western half of the original double-building design that frames UNC's oldest campus quadrangle — paired with Old East, the oldest state university building in America (1793). Old West was built in 1823 and has served as a residence hall almost continuously since then, connecting students to more than two centuries of UNC history. Traditional corridor-style rooms with communal bathrooms, no air conditioning. Living in Old West is one of UNC's most distinctive and historically rich residential experiences.
