Western Shore Independent Living is Washington College's most independent residential option, comprising 11 buildings exclusively available to juniors and seniors. Each building contains four 4-person apartment-style suites, each with four private bedrooms (9 × 11 feet), a furnished common room (11 × 15 feet) with couch, armchairs, coffee table, and media center, a full kitchen with refrigerator, cabinets, and dual pantry closets, and two full bathrooms. The 172 total single rooms make Western Shore one of the largest residential areas on campus. Residents decide whether their suite is gender-designated or gender-inclusive. First-floor suites in each building are fully accessible; laundry facilities (included in room costs) are on the second floor of each building. Individual heating and air conditioning units are in every room. The Western Shore complex also includes several sorority houses, all subject to the same junior/senior residency requirement.
