The PPR Apartments (Palmer, Pittenger, Roberts community) opened in 2017 as Swarthmore's newest and most sustainable residential building, earning LEED certification for its energy-efficient design and low environmental footprint. The building offers apartment-style living with fully equipped private kitchens, in-suite bathrooms, central air conditioning, and modern finishes — a significant step up from the traditional corridor hall experience. Units are configured for 2–4 students, with living/dining areas and private bedrooms. Central laundry is located within the building. PPR is popular with upperclass students seeking the independence of apartment-style living while remaining on campus. Its sustainable design includes solar panels, high-efficiency HVAC, and native plantings on the surrounding grounds.
