About Unit 3 — Norton Hall

Norton Hall is one of the four high-rise towers that make up UC Berkeley's Unit 3 residence hall complex on Channing Way. Built in 1964 and designed by John Warnecke, the towers encircle a large central courtyard. Traditional corridor-style double rooms with communal floor bathrooms, no air conditioning — Berkeley's mild bay climate makes this workable for most of the academic year. Norton residents share programming, dining, and community events with the other Unit 3 towers. Unit 3 houses approximately 2,700 students total across all towers.
