About Unit 3 — Spens-Black Hall

Spens-Black Hall is one of the four high-rise towers that make up UC Berkeley's Unit 3 residence hall complex. Built in 1964, it shares the central Unit 3 courtyard with Ida Sproul, Norton, and Priestley Halls. Traditional corridor-style double rooms with communal floor bathrooms, no air conditioning. Spens-Black is home to the Unity House Theme Program, a living-learning community focused on social justice, identity, and cross-cultural dialogue. One of the more community-focused Unit 3 towers.
